A registered agent very simply is an individual listed and on record with the state as the official contact for the company. This individual will receive governmental and legal correspondence on behalf of the company. The agent must have a physical address in the State of formation (no P.O. Boxes or similar mail service locations allowed). This individual can be an officer or owner of the business.  Keep in mind that the Registered Agent’s name and address are made part of the public record. It may be advantageous to use a professional registered agent service if your business is a home based or retail business.  You can elect to have Parcorp Services provide this service for you for only $189 per year.
